Iron with Vitamin C | 90 Count
4.6

Produced in an NSF-certified GMP facility and independently third-party tested. Iron deficiency is one of the most common nutritional challenges after bariatric surgery, and standard iron supplements often make it worse with stomach upset, constipation, and nausea. BariMelts Iron uses Carbonyl Iron, a form of iron that is absorbed gradually and gently, paired with Vitamin C in the same tablet to help support iron absorption. Sugar-free, natural orange flavour, dissolves in the mouth without water. 90 tablets per bottle, a 1-month supply at 3 tablets per day.
The iron form in a supplement matters as much as the dose. Ferrous sulfate and ferrous gluconate, the most common forms in standard supplements, are associated with nausea, constipation, and abdominal pain, side effects that are particularly problematic for bariatric patients whose digestive systems are more sensitive. Carbonyl Iron is absorbed slowly and steadily, which dramatically reduces these side effects while still supporting iron levels effectively.
Vitamin C helps support the absorption of non-haem iron from supplements. Including both in the same tablet means the absorption support is automatic with every dose rather than depending on dietary Vitamin C intake, which can be inconsistent particularly in bariatric patients eating smaller meals.
Per serving (3 tablets): Iron (as Carbonyl Iron), Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid). Other Ingredients: Mannitol, xylitol, natural orange flavor, plant-based magnesium stearate, monk fruit extract, citric acid. Sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO.
Take 3 tablets daily, or as recommended by your healthcare professional. Allow tablets to dissolve in mouth. No water necessary. Do not take at the same time as calcium supplements, as calcium can interfere with iron absorption. Store at room temperature.
01
Why do bariatric patients often need extra iron?
After bariatric surgery, the changes to the digestive system and reduced food intake can significantly affect the body's ability to absorb iron. Iron deficiency and anaemia are among the most common nutritional complications after surgery. A dedicated iron supplement, taken separately from a multivitamin if needed, helps support iron levels. Always follow your healthcare provider's specific supplement recommendations.
02
Why not just take the BariMelts Multivitamin with Iron?
The BariMelts Multivitamin with Iron contains 18 mg of Carbonyl Iron per serving, which is appropriate for many bariatric patients. However, some patients, particularly those who have had gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy, may require a higher iron dose based on blood test results and their healthcare provider's advice. BariMelts Iron + Vitamin C allows for a higher dedicated iron dose without needing to increase the multivitamin dose.
03
Should I take this with food?
Iron is generally better absorbed on an empty stomach. However, if you experience stomach discomfort, taking it with a small amount of food can help. Do not take it at the same time as calcium supplements. Consult your healthcare provider or dietitian for guidance specific to your post-surgical protocol.
